  • Horticulture has been identified as one of the focus sectors for development of the state
  • Horticulture contributing 40 to 50 percent agriculture 
  • Horticulture provides large employment by way of area development, nurseries, cultivation and farming products, post harvest management, trading storage, processing, transportation, marketing tec.
  • Area under Horticulture in Telangana is 7.09 lakh  Ha with annual production of 504 lakh MTs.



The  district is endowed with good climate and soil for growing wide range of Horticultural Crops.

Micro Irrigation

Major Objectives of the Scheme

  • Productivity enhancement & quality improvement
  • Improving water & fertilizer use efficiency
  • Improving energy.

Subsidy Details

  • All category farmers in revenue village irrespective of their economic status are eligible for drop irrigation/ Micro irrigation system up to 5 Ha.
  • All SC/ST farmer are eligible  for 100% subsidy
  • All BC farmers are eligible for 90% Subsidy
  • All SF/MF farmers(other than SC/ST) are eligible  for 90% subsidy.
  • All other caste farmers are eligible for 80% subsidy
  • The farmers once availed subsidy under MIP are eligible for fresh sanction after a period of 5 years instead of 10 previously.
  • The selection of MI Company is purely farmers choice among the empaneled companies allotted to the district.




A preferred  alternate cash crop to the water stressed areas with assured market.

  • Mulberry can be grown as an intercrop with other Horticulture crops.
  • Sericulture gets regular monthly income to the sericulture farmers
  • Sericulture is a predominantly a women-centric and economic cas crop.
  • Mulberry crop has less demand on chemical fertilizers and pesticides.
  • Suitable for small and marginal farmers, having limited land holdings.
  • Mulberry crop also a good fodder crop and can be linked to dairy development i.e. silk to milk.
